He has been teaching in the Cambridge area since moving here in 1980. He taught at the Young Arbury Music Makers when it began in 1980 and from 1983 to1990 was its musical director. In 1989, Steven and Lynette moved to Milton, just north of Cambridge, when they married. The name Rowans Music was adopted, as they lived in The Rowans at that time. From 1990-1995 Steven founded and ran the Rowans School of Music Saturday Centre. He was Musical Director of the Fulbourn Dance and Theatre School (now Splitz Theatre Artz) for 3 years from 2004. His private practice has grown over the years He now teaches at home in Milton, and in Cambridge, Coton, Girton, Harston, Hardwick and Wilburton, and from time to time, has covered Dry Drayton, Landbeach, Swavesey, Waterbeach and Willingham. Steven has been involved in church music for centuries, having been organist and choirmaster at St Peter's, Duxford in the 1980s and St Andrew's, Isleham during the 1990s. Steven has been involved with the Music and Worship Foundation (mwf) since 1992, working with the directors of the organisation and was also the Cambridgeshire representative from 1994 until 2006 when the mwf changed it's structure of working. He has been Designer of the mwf's national Newsletter, "Baseline" since 2008. From 2003-2006, he was director of the choir at St Andrew's, Histon, where he developed the range and styles of music that the choir sang and enhanced the Christmas Carol Service. Most recently he has been one of the organists at St George's, Chesterton. |
